Crime

Cheshire is not known for its crime rate, and you would have to be very unlucky to be a victim of theft, but the usual sensible precautions apply, including insurance.

So always lock your bike up, preferably to something immovable, and don’t leave valuables lying around unattended in pubs and on campsites. Also be aware of possible pickpockets operating in busy sightseeing places or during crowded events (although there are not a lot of these in Cheshire…).

For personal safety, avoid cycling through towns late on Friday and Saturday nights when rowdy motorists or groups of drunks may become either a hazard, a nuisance or worse. Not sure why cycling attracts so much unwanted attention, but it often does.
