PRESS RELEASE 1

Call for information

Visitors, residents and businesses of Cheshire now have an opportunity to share practical information about cycling in the county. Not only tours, trips and training, but routine rides to school and work, plus facilities such as railway stations, refreshments, repairs, along with places of interest and places to stay.

Just add facts, updates and opinions to the forum 'Have your say' on www.cheshirecycleway.co.uk, a new website that aims to detail all that's special about cycling in Cheshire. Quiet lanes, canal towpaths, ex-railway tracks and signposted cycle routes combined with beautiful scenery, towns, villages, hills, plain and coast, historic sites, black and white houses, tourist spots and the Peak National Park create an attractive place to ride.

Currently the site concentrates on the Cheshire Cycleway (route 70) - a 176 mile circuit - mapped on a mashup (courtesy of Google maps). With the authors' guidebook to the route being out of print, Alec and Val Scaresbrook decided that the best way to provide a frequently updated guide was via the Internet.

Future plans are to expand the site with other routes (such as the Congleton Cycling Campaign's route map for the town) and leisure rides in the county and further afield based on the authors' experiences and that of others.
