Although digital cameras can record short video clips, for more features and lengthy recordings of the ups and downs of cycling and other sports, a camcorder is more suitable.

Tricky if you're on your own, which is where a helmet camera becomes invaluable. Fit a specially designed camera to your helmet and you're hands free.

Modern cameras are nothing without power, so you'll need a spare battery or power pack charged up and ready to go otherwise you might miss that shot of a lifetime.

Don't forget about chargers either if you're off on a trip.
