A mine of information on UK cycle-related matters and a starting point for surfing the web for cycle stuff. The site is a joint initiative of the Bicycle Association and the Association of Cycle Traders via the Bike Hub levy scheme. The site started life as Bikeforall.net, which was seed-funded by the Department for Transport via the National Cycling Strategy Board as was.
A starting point for UK-wide off-road riding information, from easy peasy flat routes for everyone to those black routes for experts.
UK Directory of Council Cycle Maps
This is organised by country (England, N. Ireland, Scotland, Wales) and by county, listing links and .pdf files of cycle route maps produced by local councils. Not sure how often it's updated.

Cycling England - defunct since 1st April 2011.
This national body co-ordinated the development of cycling across England for...'more people cycling, more safely, more often...'. Supported by various Government departments. Included the establishment of cycling demonstration towns.
Axed because it was a quango, despite only costing 'the same to run per year as building 5 metres of motorway' according to BikeBiz.com
National body promoting cycling and funded by the Scottish government.

Magazines
A to B magazine is an entertaining and informative read about low carbon living, including commuting and shopping, with reviews of folding and electric bikes plus comments on cycle-related items including rail travel. Printed or online version every other month.
Monthly print magazine for recreational riders.
An out-of-date site, but some interesting reading from the defunct print magazine for everyday and holidaying cyclists.
A quarterly print magazine about specialised bikes, cycling as transport, and the human power scene. Everyday utility cycling, recumbents, folders, tandems, adaptations for different abilities. 'It's a quarterly dose of cycle inspiration.'
