Kidsgrove railway station

by Alec and Val Scaresbrook

Staffed mornings Mon-Sat, Kidsgrove station is run by East Midlands Trains. Toilets accessed from waiting room/booking office, so not available when the office is closed.

On the junction of the Crewe-Stoke-on-Trent-Derby and Manchester-Stoke-on-Trent lines, there are frequent trains running on the Crewe line 7 days per week and the Manchester line Mon-Sat, with very few on Sunday afternoon/evening.

Overhead cover on south-bound Manchester-Stoke platform and a bus shelter on the west-bound Stoke-Crewe platform. No other facilities.

Four platforms. Main, level, entrance to Stoke platform (Stoke-Manchester line) only; footbridge access to Manchester platform, plus Stoke and Crewe platforms (on the Crewe-Derby line). If rail enquiries give you Kidsgrove as a connection, check the possibility of changing at Stoke because it's always staffed, has facilities including a lift and is definitely a more pleasant place to be out of hours, in bad weather or after dark.
