Middlewood Way

The Middlewood Way began life in 1869 as the Macclesfield, Bollington and Marple railway. But it declined with competition from the roads and closed in 1970. Now it's managed by the local council's rangers for recreation and wildlife value. The Way offers a traffic-free route for cyclists towards Macclesfield to the south and Marple to the north. Watch out for pedestrians and horse-riders though. See the map below
