Artists Lane

Artists Lane has two steep sections taking you up to the wooded escarpment of Alderley Edge.


This area was extensively mined, and if you glance to your left half way up this hill, across a field you'll see a barren area, unable to support any vegetation due to the poisonous levels of minerals in old spoil heaps.


When you get to the main road at the top of the hill, you'll see The Wizard restaurant ahead, and a squat isolated building opposite it on your left. This was the miners' powder storage house, set apart for safety.See the map below
