Tatton Park, Knutsford

There's enough here to keep you occupied for several days, never mind several hours. It's a country estate with a thousand acres of deer-park, plus meres, an authentic Japanese garden, a medieval hall (the Old Hall), a Georgian mansion (Tatton Hall) and a 1930s farm, not forgetting the tea rooms. The park (free for cyclists) is open daily but the buildings and gardens are closed on Mondays, except Bank Holiday Mondays. See the map below
