Hassall Green

This hamlet to one side of the canal boasts a little shop and post office, a couple of pubs and a canalside restaurant (Lock Fifty Seven) that has upgraded itself considerably from the little cafe that it once was, but is still a good place for cyclists to head for.


While lingering on the lockside lawn with your cuppa, you can reflect on the extremes of transport modes, with the nearby noisy M6 providing a manic backdrop to narrowboats chugging by.


The nearby Salt Line, a disused railway line, provides a quick off-road route to Alsager centre with its shops and railway station. See the map below
